Age Connects Wales

Age Connects Neath Port Talbot is a member of Age Connects Wales, which operates as a charity throughout regions of Wales in seeking to change attitudes related to ageing and improve older people’s lives.

Age Connects Wales strives to challenge cultural and organisational perceptions towards older people in Wales. It achieves this by listening to the views of older people and using these to help shift society’s view of age to one where older age is regarded as a positive stage in the course life, in being as valuable as any other and the place older people hold in our society. 

Through Age Connects Wales, we maintain an ability for organisations to work together and also take progressive steps to act collaboratively with other organisations that share our priorities, which helps us to use all of the resources at our disposal to promote the wellbeing of older people in Wales. This includes supporting the promotion of volunteering opportunities within our own and other organisations.

Age Connects Wales was formed to maintain our ability to work collaboratively across Wales with those that share our primary objectives, campaigning focus and seeking age positive influence. Age Connects Wales is about developing a role that goes beyond the issue of health and social care, to one that identifies how older people access information, what their experiences of services are, and how their lives are affected by organisations.

We are convinced that working together can significantly enhance support available for older people in our community. Where we recognise the importance of our representative member organisations to maintain their independence and autonomy. Age Connects Wales members are engaged in local communities, work to deliver services to older people, whilst maintaining a long history and expertise in understanding the challenges faced.
