Independent Information and Advice

Information and Advice

Our information and advice service is available to people aged fifty plus living in Neath Port Talbot. The service can be accessed via our telephone helpline, email, appointments facility, drop in service or by visiting one of our community outreach locations.

We offer a wide range of free independent information and advice to help older people stay in their own home, and make life as easy as possible. Our dedicated staff and volunteer team offer independent and confidential information, advice and support covering a wide range of issues. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Maximising income and welfare benefits*
  • Health, leisure and learning
  • Aids and adaptions to help you remain in your own home
  • Care homes and care home fees
  • Planning for the future
  • Housing and tenancy
  • Legal issues
  • Consumer support
  • Energy efficiency**
  • Work advice
*We are a registered alternative office for the Department for Work and Pensions so can provide specialist advice and casework for benefit checks, welfare benefit claim forms, reconsideration and a full appeals service (including support and tribunal representation).

**With increasing energy prices and on-going benefit reform, it is important that older people are aware of fuel poverty. We provide advice, support and guidance on reducing energy costs, tariff advice and if necessary can help to switch energy providers. We provide up to date information on winter fuel payments, cold weather payments and various grant monies available.
